Amritsar (Punjabi: ਅੰਿਮ੍ਤਸਰ), the district head quarters of the Amritsar district lies in the north eastern parts of the Indian state of Punjab. Its around 230 km from the state capital Chandigarh & around 460 km from the country capital New Delhi. Pakistan border is just around 28 km from the city center of Amritsar & Lahore city in Pakistan is just around 50 km from Amritsar.

Amritsar is the spiritual & cultural center for Sikh religion. The Golden Temple here is very good.

By Road:

Amritsar is connected by the National Highways from all major cities nearby.

From Delhi its around 460 km, from Chandigarh its around 230 km, nearest city Jalandhar is around 80 km.

By Train:

Amritsar is connected by rail from New Delhi, there is a daily Shatbadi from New Delhi, trains from Mumbai, Howrah & Jammu are also there.

By Air:

Amritsar has an International Airport, direct flights to Toronto, London & few other Central Asian countries are there.

- The ceremony starts at around 4:30 pm. Amritsar to Wagah Border is around 45 min drive, so leave Amritsar around 3:30 pm.

There are a lot of hotels near the back gate of the Golden temple, most of them are budget hotels. One can take accommodation here coz, the Golden Temple & Jallianwala Bagh are at a walkable distance from this place.
