Isla Mujeres is a small and beautiful island near Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo in Mexico. Its around 13 km from Cancun in the Caribbean sea. The island is only about 7 km long & little over half km wide at the widest point. Punta Sur (Southern tip of the island)
Best way to explore this island is to rent a golf cart & take it to all the places, to get a golf cart, you need to be there in the island early enough, otherwise there wouldn't be any golf carts available to rent. The North Beach is awesome, the water is shallow, only till knees for about 200-300 mts, white sand & blue water, its a nice relaxing place.
Getting to Isla Mujeres:
Its about 13 km from Cancun, there are various points from Cancun to board the boat to Isla Mujeres. Various Ferry terminal to Isla Mujeres are: Puerto Juarez, Playa Tortugas, Playa Caracol, El Embarcadero. Except for Puerto Juarez which has ferries every 30 mins from 5 AM to 10:30 PM, all other ferry terminals are in Hotel Zone, the best one is Playa Tortugas, which has about 8 departures every hour from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

* Punta Sur: Southern tip of the Island which has Mayan Ruins/Temple of Ixchel
* North Beach: Beautiful shallow beach with white sand & blue water
* Turtle Farm: You can see a lot of Turtles here, big, small, different variety
* Dolphin Discovery: Activities with Dolphins, a bit expensive though
* Whale Shark Tours
* Water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, ...

Isla Mujeres of the land of the woman is a great place for travelling. I visited there last year. It was an excellent experience. isla mujeres scuba diving, isla mujeres local fishing were my favorite. Very exciting.
